Mission: Bringing Restoration and
Hope to Homeless Families
At Restoration House of Houston, we believe in the power of families to overcome adversity. Our commitment to keeping families intact is at the core of our mission, ensuring stability and support for those in need.
About Our Founder
Cameron Hunter, the visionary founder of Restoration House of Houston, has a powerful personal story that fuels his passion for helping families overcome homelessness. Once experiencing homelessness himself with his wife and four children, Cameron lived through the struggles of navigating life without a stable home. His journey took a transformative turn when he became the Director of the very shelter where he and his family had once found refuge.
In his role as Director, Cameron discovered that many of the challenges families faced in overcoming homelessness were not being fully addressed by traditional systems. He noticed that the root causes—such as lack of long-term support, resources, and access to sustainable solutions—were being overlooked, leading families back into the cycle of homelessness. Even more troubling, since 2017, he has witnessed a growing trend of shelters separating family members, a practice that undermines the healing and rebuilding process. This issue has only become more widespread, further compounding the challenges families face on their path to stability.
This revelation became the driving force behind the creation of Restoration House of Houston. After being called to Alief, Texas, Cameron and his family founded the nonprofit with the belief that by keeping families united and equipping them with the right tools for restoration, they could break the cycle of homelessness for good. At Restoration House of Houston, the core mission is not only to provide immediate shelter but also to offer hope, empowerment, and long-term solutions that address the underlying causes of homelessness.
Through his personal experience and deep commitment to seeing families thrive, Cameron along with a dedicated Board of Directors, have created a place where families can rebuild together, and ultimately, restore their lives.
